What is ballroom dancing?

Ballroom dancing is a dance that can either be enjoyed competitively or socially with a partner. Ballroom dance refers to the ten dances of International Ballroom and International Latin styles. While the term itself has always been fluid, we focus on all of the standard dances that include the Waltz, the Viennese Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Rhumba, Mambo, Cha-Cha, and more.

The most popular ballroom dance

Knowing which style of ballroom dancing you like and are good at only comes from trying each of the techniques available to you. However, the most popular ballroom dance that you see at weddings or competitions is the Waltz.

The Waltz is a smooth type of ballroom dance and is most notable for its long, flowing movements and constant “rise and fall” motion. This is the dance that is most commonly seen with flowing costumes and is very elegant and graceful to watch and perform. Partners appear to glide across the dancefloor, leaving onlookers in awe.
